Na’Asia [NA - Asia] Smith is a Newark, New Jersey based fine artist, focusing on making a world of her own. Taking it all one day at a time, Na’Asia flows from oil painting to denim work, and on a slow day embroidery or journaling is the way to go. While attending high school at Bloomfield Tech Vocational, Na’Asia majored in arts and building; rapidly finding a true love for learning to work with her hands and creating magic with everyday materials. Moving further along, Fine Arts and the sassy Ms.Bailey is what caught the heart of this young artist. Spending two hours a day, every week learning something new about this magical world of art, Na’Asia gained more and more interest and slowly heard her calling. There was no turning back, the artist had awakened and was ready to paint the world whatever she wanted.

College was never a “want” but art school was for sure a reach, so after graduating high school Na’Asia went onto William Paterson to major in marketing and sales. Four years later somehow, some way there’s a college university degree out there with the name “Na’Asia Smith” on it in beautiful script. Working a regular 9-5 would be a personal HELL for Na’Asia, but the knowledge gained throughout those four years would be used to some advantage, regardless. With life coming so fast and time flying by even faster, diving into art seemed like the most logical thing to do. Juggling jobs to provide materials and an actual lifestyle is what was happening, but was the main cause for the exhaustan so something had to be done. “Invest in your dreams and just do this shit!” the words that get repeated mentally every single day. Jobs have been quit, friends have been dropped, parties have been stood up, all because THESE DREAMS WILL COME TRUE, REGARDLESS!
Making SOMETHING out of NOTHING
Mde x Na [Made by Na] is more than a “brand”, it’s a lifestyle; a lifestyle that was born from the nonstop annoyance of big name brand companies and the unstoppable magical hands of Na’Asia. Mde x Na was meant to mean Na’Asia made this, and that's that; whether “that” be a painting, hand distressed denim, hand recycled paper, or even a candle, Na’Asia made it! Upcycling clothing was the first phase of this journey; with every item that was purchased online or in a store, there was still a need to customize. The customs became a part of the daily wardrobe and the public felt a love toward them, so why not offer this? When it comes to fashion, Na’Asia believes that anything can be made into a look ON A BUDGET. Thrifting has always felt like first nature, but why not take it a little further and make it all my own..?
